Good design should reflect and encompass the complex beauty of light, space, color and texture found in the myriad details of our natural environment – and simultaneously should pay homage to the mundane . . . where do I put my toothbrush?

While studying sculpture at UCSB, Tracey Loeb, FORMA Architects principal, explored concepts in her masters thesis installation that she continues to refine in her architectural and interiors work today – how residential architecture reflects and defines a person’s identity and how those perceptions inform individual choices regarding structure, spatial organization, materials and furnishings.

Soon after graduating from SCI-Arc, she started FORMA Architects and began work on several real estate development ventures as well as private residential projects. After the design and construction were completed on FORDYCE, the owners commissioned the extensive interior design for the residence sparking the integration of her passion for architectural space, light and volume with a love for textiles, fibers and furniture design. Today, through both her architectural and interiors work, she continues to explore the juxtapositions of fragile and strong, opaque and transparent, sinuous and planar, polished and rough, and man-made and natural.

The approach for every project is a process of collaboration and dialogue with clients to realize their goals within the larger context of creating a sustainable, dynamic and tranquil environment.
