The extensive renovation project for a young family included the complete demolition of the interior of the existing structure and reconfiguration of the floor plan in its entirety to create a rustic yet luxe retreat in a secluded cul-de-sac canyon. The new ground floor employs a loft-like plan linking a series of rooms in an uninterrupted flow that integrally connects to the outside pool and patio areas. The second floor has a sequence of ‘tree house’ rooms, each with its own vantage point, that seem to float within the branches of the existing mature trees on the site.

The design for the interiors utilizes a variety of woods with custom finishes for the floor and wall planes, and juxtaposes their natural surfaces and grains with burnished metals and textural fabrics for the furniture and accessories. Sustainable materials are incorporated through the extensive use of quartz composite countertops and recycled glass tiles.
